“See, I spend this little apartment as a bachelor, the few hours I stay for the whole day.” In these words, Mahler introduced a reporter to Teresa’s Circular Home, who recalled, in the spring of 1889, “a narrow circle of artists Hungarian tastes and a very generous evening meal, which took place in a very lively atmosphere”.

This apartment block was built in 1887 and one of the first residents was Gustav Mahler. He lived here during the years 1889-1891 when he directed the Opera House Orchestra. He was living in the first floor in a front apartment. The Oktogon Pharmacy in the corner moved here in the end of the 19th century from Buda.
