The alto Martha Stapelfeldt became better known as lieder and oratorio singer. She gave Liederabende dedicated to the German song repertoire, for example in the Bechsteinsaal in Berlin, and was part of the Berlin Vocal Quartet, with which she also appeared in the Netherlands. As an oratorio singer, she sang especially Bach, both Passions and cantatas.
