We partner with orchestras and publishers worldwide to ensure these new works are performed regularly, not just once.
The Foundation participates in major Mahler festivals and events around the world, and we’re committed to supporting young musicians through educational initiatives, including partnerships with conservatories dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musical talent.
Commissioning new music is one of the best ways to ensure Gustav Mahler’s legacy as an innovator accompanies us throughout the 21st century.

• TheHell Mountain, by composer Anders Hillborg – This work was commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with financial support from the Mahler Foundation (along with Orchestre de Paris, Oslo Filharmonien, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra)
• The Mosaique of the Aire, by Sebastian Black, premiered by Orchestra of the Earth and written for the Mahler Festival Amsterdam.
• Rick van Veldhuizen’s ‘Mais le corps taché d’ombre’, commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Mahler Foundation.
• Xavier Foley’s Resurrection of Titan commissioned for the Cabrillo Festival in Santa Cruz, California and Mahler Foundation.
