Freunde und Weggefahrten

Hekmut Brenner, Reinhold Kubik

Book in German

The group of people around Gustav Mahler comprised hundreds of people.

In addition to famous contemporaries such as Richard Strauss and Gerhart Hauptmann, he included many people whose relationship with Mahler is known, but not much about whose life is known about the opera singer Rosa Papier, who played a key role in Mahler’s commitment to the Vienna Court Opera Landscape photographer Hugo Henneberg, whose wife Marie became the godmother of Mahler’s daughter, to lawyer Serafin Bondi, who was a member of a vegetarian club with Mahler.

The book offers a selection of around 70 fascinating biographies that close many gaps in Mahler’s life story.
