It is a cultural and art historical monument (first mentioned in 1556) and is one of Europe’s oldest coffee shops, next to Café Procope in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. Coffee has been served here since 1711. Numerous celebrities visited the restaurant regularly, so met, for example, For example Robert Schumann and other musicologists from the year 1833 to the Stammtisch in the “Coffe Baum”.

An extraordinary house sign from the year 1720 gave the house its name “To the Arab Coffe tree”: The baroque sculpture shows an oriental, which reaches a cup of a cup of coffee. The log thus symbolizes the history of coffee as a cultural gift to the Occident.
