It was during his stay in the Imperial hotel in Frankfurt that Mahler must have written his letter to Dr Richard Horn, enclosing an article from the Kolnische Zeitung (29-11-1903), concerning the problems of contemporary physics, a letter which Alma Mahler dated 1907.
