Gustav Mahler was member 1878-1879.

02-03-1876 Vienna: Gustav Mahler saw Wagner conduct once. It was in Vienna in 1876 at a performance of Lohengrin in the Vienna State Opera. It was Wagners final conducting engagement in Vienna. Mahler saw Wagner in the wardrobe, but as a young student and admirer he did not have the courage to talk to him. It was Wagners second time he conducted Lohengrin.
