Notes: In June Mahler quickly wrote a complete suite of incidental music for the main item in a charity evening of operatic extracts. This was for a series of “Tableaux Vivants” based on Joseph Victor von Scheffel (1826-1886)‘s popular narrative poem “Der Trompeter von Sackingen”. Gustav Mahler conducted the first professional public performance of his own work. The music is lost. Plus: Premiere Prelude with Chorus. Der Trompeter von Sackingen (Sakkingen). Ein sang vom Oberrhein. The Trumpeter of Sackingen.
