Notes: Worldpremiere of Bach-Mahler – Suite for orchestra. A later program booklet (1910 Concert New York 01-11-1910) notes that “Mr. Mahler has compiled the present work from Bach’s second and third suites, and added to the contrast of keys thus obtained other effects by making some changes in the orchestration. He has also written out the Continuo, which he plays upon a pianoforte with its action modified so as to produce a tone like that of the old harpsochord, but louder”. In 12-1909 Mahler sold the score arrangement to the new york publisher G. Schirmer, who published the score and the parts in 03-1910. See Transcriptions (15 composers)
